Create an 8-foot-tall (2.4m), scaled-down model of our atmosphere and discover cool information about our atmosphere at the same time! Students will also learn a little history about humankind's ventures into our atmosphere.

Includes an extension activity that will help bring the distances into perspective for your students. SI units used throughout. Imperial units provided where appropriate for easier visualization.

Everything needed to create the 8-foot-tall wall chart is included along with guided instructions and data. The activity may be completed individually or in groups and it is most effective when used in conjunction with online research.

Requirements: scissors, tape, colored pencils, markers, and a personal electronic device with internet access. Altitude stated in kilometers. Feet/miles included on y-axis of chart for ease of conversion.

Crosscutting concepts: scale, proportion, & quantity, systems & system models.
