Description

Teaching about the layers of the atmosphere? Want students to see the reason behind the layers?
This printable worksheet/activity can help!

Objective:
Students will be able to graph and describe the reason that the atmospheric layers begin and end at certain altitudes.

Common Core Standard(s) Alignment:
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RST.6-8.7 Integrate quantitative or technical information expressed in words in a text with a version of that information expressed visually (e.g., in a flowchart, diagram, model, graph, or table).

Notes:
This worksheet is designed to allow students to determine why scientists separate the layers of the atmosphere. By graphing temperature data vs. altitude, students can hypothesize, and eventually see the reason being that the direction of temperature change reverses with each new atmospheric layer.
