Product Description
"Humanity has won its battle. Liberty now has a country." Le Marquis de Lafayette (French military officer ~ 1757 - 1834)

Did you know that Lafayette became an American citizen ?

Or that he bonded immediately with George Washington the day they met ?

Or that he named his only son Georges Washington Lafayette ?

Here's an interesting way to 'Teach Across The Curriculum' and weave history and culture into your classroom.

You can do this on Lafayette's birth date - September 6th.

Or on his death date - May 20th.

Or on a unit about Paris and mention famous people buried there.

Just show this biographical information on your overhead projector during National French Week or throughout the year to perk up your instruction with these intriguing facts about the fascinating life of a celebrated Frenchman.

Each fact about Lafayette is in English and enhanced with photos.

I go around the room asking students to read each point out loud to promote discussion.

I also have students keep notes on these cultural curiosities as we go over them in class and file them under 'Culture' in their notebooks.

This is a perfect supplement for history teachers, too.

I've also included an explanation of how I do notebook checks and the rubric I created for these checks. (16 pages)

One teacher commented:
"I will make these reviews easy: I buy everything, literally everything, Carol puts out for French. And if I were a German or Spanish teacher, I would buy those products as well."
Candice L., Hampton, VA

* OF SPECIAL NOTE *
I have created my products as Word documents because that is how I use them. They are unlocked so teachers can change vocabulary words or modify things if they wish.

If you prefer a different format for the overhead, below are some suggestions, however the pictures may have to be inserted separately.

To Make A Slide Show In ActivInspire
If you use ActivInspire, you can save the Word document as a pdf (this is easily done with the newer versions of Word), then you can simply import the pdf to ActivInspire and have a document for that format.

To Make A Slide Show In PowerPoint
If you prefer to use the PowerPoint format, you can easily convert a Word document to a PowerPoint.

This link explains it clearly: 'Creating A PowerPoint From A Word Document.'

If you like my products, please follow me by clicking on the little green star at the top right under my name. Merci.
