Leaders of the Civil Rights Movement: Research Project, by Humanities Hub will get your students excited about research! This 12-page packet is a step-by-step research project, which is framed by the essential question: How can one person’s actions contribute to a movement for change in society? Everything you need for the project is in this packet! Students begin the project by selecting an activist to research (list of many activists included). Then, they create high-order and low-order research questions, engage in peer review of research questions, use Cornell Notes to organize their note-taking and finally complete an annotated bibliography using a guided graphic organizer. The project culminates in students delivering a speech about their activist and creating a brochure to use as a visual aid. The rubric for the entire research process is included. You will be amazed at the work that your students will do with this research project!
