I made this for my Kindergarten ESL group so they could make a book about fall leaves' colors.
Students brought in 3 different types of leaves.
They made a tri-fold book with the sentence pattern on three pages:
"This leaf is ________."
(Some students wrote the entire sentence themselves; some were given the sentence pattern typed out and filled in the blank with the appropriate colors.)
I modeled how to make leaf rubbings. I broke brown, green, yellow, red, and orange crayons in half, took off the wrappers, and lay the crayon flat on the paper, which was on top of the leaf they were rubbing, and colored back and forth.
Some students accentuated the border with crayons; others with a pencil. Some students needed assistance.
One creative student used multiple colors on his rubbing.
Hope you find the rubric useful!
