Product Description
Center activities and nonfiction passages are included in this collection of "leafy literacy" materials. These literacy activities would be a perfect way to supplement a unit on trees. It could also be used as a stand-alone product.

Contents:
Tree name alphabetical order sheet
Syllable Sort Activity: 24 cards plus a recording sheet (perfect for centers or for small groups)
Two-page nonfiction passage comparing and contrasting deciduous and evergreen trees. Some words are underlined. Students highlight the underlined words and then sort them by syllables on a corresponding recording sheet.
VENN Diagram that corresponds with the comparing/contrasting passage
2 versions of a “Three Important Words” graphic organizer: One has leaf clip art to go along with any of the nonfiction passages in this packet. The other has no clip art , so it can be used with any text (fiction or nonfiction).
Three-page nonfiction passage about trees with three distinct main ideas. It would also be possible to use each page on its own.
Main Idea/Detail Graphic Organizer which could be used with any text
Tree Word Speed-Read (fluency) activity
Two-page sentence editing activity with a focus on capitalizing geographic names
Two-page sentence editing activity with a focus on using commas in a series
