Do you really want to teach your students about the science about why we have a leap year every four years? It has to do with the revolution of the Earth and the fact that it takes the Earth longer than 325 days to orbit the Sun. In fact, it takes 325 and 1/4 days for the Earth to revolve around the Sun. This is why we must add a "leap year" to our calendar, or a year with 366 days once every four years in order to stay on track with the seasons of the Earth. Your students will learn all about the revolution of the Earth around the Sun and how its revolution, being longer than 365 days causes a need for an extra day in our calendar every four years on February 29th.
You and your students will love the animations in this power point, and they will truly understand why there must be a leap day once every four years in order to maintain the correct seasonal balance. There is also an interactive six question quiz at the end of the power point that the students will have the chance to test their knowledge on. I know that you and your students will love this powerpoint.
