The idea behind these worksheets is to help students develop the ability to come up with a pattern rule for a number sequence. The ‘chocolate-chip cookies’ are a visual way to help students think about a rule for a number pattern.
On my website (www.jjresourcecreations.com), there's a blog post about a teaching instruction suggestion that works with these printables. You can read about it HERE
if you are interested.
Build up practice towards writing pattern rules using the first two Cookie Number Pattern worksheets. Then, use the third template with empty cookies for students to come up with their own number patterns (including writing the rule).
