What deep spiritual truths can we learn by observing God's creation in Hawaii? Take a look and see. We will briefly look at volcanoes, the jungle and the deep ocean. Creation proclaims the glory of God.
"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge." (Psalm 19:1-2)
“… since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." (Romans 1:19-20)
These passages and others reveal that basic characteristics about God and His plan can be learned from His creation. Jesus used parables about nature and our physical surroundings to explain spiritual truths (e.g. lilies of the field, sparrows, farming, etc.).
Twenty centuries later, with the benefit of our basic science education and our knowledge of God’s Word, shouldn’t we be able to draw some parallels and use similar analogies to reveal spiritual truths? I believe we can.
So what can we learn about God from nature? There are countless qualities and characteristics about God. One that was etched into my memory from personal experience comes from a family vacation to Hawaii.
What spiritual truths can we learn about God from Hawaii?
I hope that this brief presentation can serve as a brief devotional or a conversation starter for a Bible Study group or just a source of encouragement for someone who takes the time to look into it.
