This activity book was created to help your students better understand some of the different types of disabilities that they may observe at school or in their community. By helping students develop empathy and a positive attitude toward others who have a disability, will help decrease bullying, while developing a more positive, caring school environment.
The activities in this workbook will provide an introduction to different types of disabilities in a positive and general way. The activities are simple, yet enlightening, and are designed to be educational and fun. They will help students better understand what it might feel like to have a specific disability. Students will learn that children with disabilities enjoy and participate in many of the same activities as those without disabilities.
It is important that students understand that not everyone with the same disability is going to be the “exactly the same.” Some of the descriptions in this activity book might not describe their classmates who have the same disability described.
