I thought that the success of my "Learning about Bullying with The Karate Kid"
lesson clearly necessitated the creation of a “Learning about History with Bill & Ted” lesson. This lesson has been pretty well liked by upper level classes, but some of it flies right over the heads of my younger ones. The pattern seems to be the same for all ages; the kids all know Napoleon, Beethoven, Genghis Khan, and Lincoln, but know absolutely nothing about Billy the Kid, Socrates, Freud, and Joan of Arc. I have highlighted some potential vocabulary words in red throughout the lesson. Anyway, I think it’s a pretty fun template to build a history lesson around. Even if you can’t quite get across the theories of Freud, they will still love the clips with Genghis Khan. If you found this lesson useful, be sure to check out some of the others at ESL In Asia
. Good luck!
