Get this worksheet and my whole store FREE! Understanding the difference in cations and anions is the foundation of chemistry. Use this bright, fun, and colorful worksheet before having students learn to name chemical formulas, the difference in ionic and covalent bonds, before formula writing and naming ionic covalent compounds. This will get students familiar with where anions/cations are on the periodic table.

They will recognize that the cations come first in a formula, and anion comes second. This worksheet was created using color memory association since the words cation and anion sound the same, but blue and yellow are primary colors.
This is self explanatory enough for homeschool use-just add a periodic table.
I have included a worksheet that has the charges included and a version that does not have the charges included so it could be used in the differentiated classroom with students learning at different levels.
