This is a student-centered cooperative group activity in which students are responsible for answering a BIG Essential question: 'What were the achievements of the Golden Age of Athens?'. Four focus questions will help guide students toward answering the Big Essential question as groups create a Google Slide/Microsoft Powerpoint slide show. Upon completion of this slide show, groups will present their work to their peers. This piece is essential to make students accountable for their learning. A rubric has also been provided to score the activity. My students have come to like these activities as it moves away from the traditional to a more student-centered approach. I provide them with very little background; they find the answers to their questions on their own with some guidance from me. Links have been provided to give students credible websites on which to locate key information. Student textbooks could also be used on this activity as an alternative if technology is not as accessible.
