It is so important for our children to know what learning goals they are working on in class. This will help deepen their knowledge. It is also important that we know which children understand the learning goal, and which children still need practice on that specific learning goal. A great and easy way to do this is to use a general scale/rubric. This download provides you with a general scale/rubric that can be used for every learning goal. The scale/rubric comes in chevron, polka dot, and solid backgrounds. Please look at the preview. If you have any questions, please email us at email@example.com. This scale was made to go along with Dr. Marzano’s teachings.
Hang the scale/rubric next to your board. Before, during, or after a lesson, you can ask your children to show you where they are on the scale/rubric. Teach your children to show you 1-4 fingers in front of their chest. Holding their fingers in front of their chest will ensure no other children will see their score. This is a quick and easy informal formative assessment.
