Here are learning goals and study questions for the Common Core Anchor Standards for Reading: Key Ideas & Details in ELA for Grades 9-10.
The anchor standards are nice because they are a little more broad and don't distinguish between fiction and informational text. In the past, I have tried to teach fiction separately from informational text, but have found that teaching teaching fiction along with informational text has been much more successful.
I have separated the learning goals into a 4-point rubric that follows a standards based grading model. This model is based on the work by Robert J. Marzano and Debra Pickering. Essentially, the rubric goes as follows:
4 = Mastery of level 2 and 3 concepts PLUS in-depth inferences and applications beyond what was taught.
3 = Complex knowledge - mastery of level 2 and 3 concepts.
2 = Simple details/processes - mastery of level 2 concepts.
1 = With help, partial understanding of the level 2 and/or 3 concepts.
0 = No skill or understanding demonstrated.
Please leave me some feedback. I would love to hear your suggestions and/or what you like.
