This document is a template that I used to guide my Algebra 1 students through using their TI-83s and 84s for graphing, finding zeros and intercepts, and creating scatterplots. In the process, they covered the zoom functions, the window menu, and how to use the Stat List and Lin Reg commands. They completed it individually when I was absent one day and it was fairly successful.
Necessary Prior Knowledge:
Linear Functions and their properties
Quadratic Functions and their properties
Using technology when appropriate
Moving between multiple representations of functions, especially quadratics.
Could be done as a teacher-led activity, in groups, with partners, or individually for honors courses. May need to be edited for students prior knowledge or for different type of calculators.
