Whether it is the need to go to the gym, the lunchroom, the library or the restroom, our students are asked to line up often throughout each day. The time it takes to line them up can provide fantastic opportunities to review key concepts being taught in the classroom.
Included in this package of transitional learning cards are fifteen “Learning Line-Ups: Long Vowels with Final -e.” Each long vowel (a-e, ee, i-e, o-e, u-e) has three color-coded learning lineup cards. The cards have written directions and, for easy reference, the teacher’s direct words to say have been highlighted. The Common Core Standards being met through the use of these cards are on each card. Additionally, challenge questions are featured to help meet the unique learning needs of a group of students. A cover sheet for these learning line-up cards is also included.
I recommend you print the pages out on cardstock, then cut out each learning line-up card. Next, laminate them for durability. Hole-punch the left hand upper corner of the cards and use a brass fastener or a ring to link them together. All done! Now you have learning line-up cards focusing on long vowels you can keep on your desk (or in a designated area) that will help your students master recognizing and/or reviewing these important vowel sounds. As added bonuses, the cries of, “She passed me!” and loud student chatter will oh-so-nicely disappear!!! Learning AND quiet line-ups… ahhh, complete bliss I tell you!!!
