This "Leader In Me" Learning log is guided using the essential question. I use the essential question as a point of direction for my lessons. Students copy the essential question off of my board. They then record their own understanding of the essential question at the end of the lesson. I usually do the learning log entries twice a week. The "study example" column stays blank for now. They get to rate their level of understanding by coloring in stars (This is for them only, do not rely on their own judgement). Rating themselves makes students feel empowered.
Before a test, send home the learning log. Students have to fill out that column called "study example" with a problem that is an example that matches the essential questions. This also can be provided as a proof of study.
