Social Skills are something we are taught through engaging with family and friends. For many the development of the ability to socialise successfully comes easily and naturally. But for others a little help is needed. For people with intellectual disabilities it can be very challenging to learn how to socialise. In turn it can be equally difficult for people in carer's role to learn to initiate conversation with children or adults with a communication difficulty. This is the first of a series of booklets that helps people understand and overcome the challenges of communicating with people with disabilities.
