Hello! Learning Square Numbers to 12 has 4 different lessons.
-In Lesson 1, students first review the properties of a square shape, by using 1 inch tiles to construct arrays of different sizes.
-Lesson 2 introduces square numbers and perfect squares. Students complete multiplication tables for the first 12 perfect squares.
-Lesson 3 covers the "Exponent Shortcut", where students learn what an exponent is and how it is used as a shortcut to represent the multiplication of two identical factors.
-In Lesson 4, students make their own color grids and construct square number math posters of different colors.
