This is a hands-on activity to introduce students to the concept of some basic mathematical terms -- surfaces and edges. It does so with an interesting twist, introducing them to the Mobius strip and a couple of its interesting properties. The only needed materials are paper, tape and scissors. It also encourages group activity, building positive learning experiences. It draws upon a lifetime interest in math, an education at MIT and over 38 years of experience in the classroom, having taught math and science from pre-K through high school.
