This "thermometer" is actually to measure the learning environment in the classroom. This puts the responsibility into the kids' hands as they decide how much learning is going on in the classroom. This also is an indicator to the teacher if things are not going well. One student is selected to be the "Classroom Environment Monitor" and he moves the thermometer up or down throughout the day at set intervals. After printing, cut along the top portion of the red with an razor (do not cut the round bulb.) Next, put a 3X5 card behind the page but in front of the red line. I modified my 3X5 card so it has a handle for the student to grasp.
