Ooden, Ooden Wooden Car is a story from the “letter people folk lore” that continues explaining the rules for two vowels that are side-by-side within a word. Brothers O and U do not get along and make many different sounds. Hoping that it will bring the boys closer, Father Vowel-Sound takes the O and U twins to the farm to play on the ooden, ooden wooden car. The mentor reads the story that gives fun and easy ways to remember the rules as the student reads the example words.
The "letter people folk lore" stories are good for all readers, but
GREAT FOR STRUGGLING READERS!
We all know that one of the best ways to help a learner remember
is to link what needs to be learned to a silly story and/or a picture.
