A key to gaining emotional regulation is understanding that we experience our feelings not only in our brains, but in our bodies. Body sensations can key us into when something is off and allow us to use a coping skill BEFORE our emotions become to strong to handle effectively. This particular story is very concrete and shows the typical body signals people have when worried. It is important to teach kids that everyone experiences different body signals. I first teach these, then do some experiments during a session to simulate some body signals for awareness. Great for students on the autism spectrum.
