Product Description

This bundle includes a streaming video, a video worksheet, a lab activity PLUS 2 additional student activities all created to use with Google Apps.

The teaching video, "Types of Clouds", is an 11:30 minute video designed to be used with 4th-6th graders but can be used for higher grades as well. In the video, students will learn about 10 types of clouds:

1. cirrocumulus
2. cirrostratus
3. cirrus
4. altocumulus
5. altostratus
6. cumulus
7. stratus
8. stratocumulus
9. cumulonimbus
10. nimbostratus

The clouds are categorized by where they are located in the sky (altitude) and given pictures and descriptions of their appearance. They will also learn which cloud(s) can tell us that a storm may be approaching as well as which type of cloud(s) produce rain, snow, thunder, lightning and violent storms.

Student Activities include:

  1. Video worksheet
  2. Outdoor Lab - Cloud Observations (for Google Apps) -The outdoor lab activity is one that you can assign for how ever many days you want the students to make the observations. Students will be asked to describe the current weather, identify the clouds they are observing, name the types of clouds they are observing and then predict the weather based on their cloud observations. Please note: Although you can not view from the page picture, there are numerous red 'drop & drag' selection boxes placed on top of each other so that students can make more than one selection if they are observing multiple types of clouds on a particular day.
  3. Labeling cloud types worksheet (for Google Apps)
  4. 'Where in the Sky'worksheet (for Google Apps)

Answer keys have been provided (both for Google Apps as well as in pdf form)
