My name is Ms. Penny, and I taught special ed for 9 years before becoming a kindergarten teacher. I have sold several educational workbooks for the classroom, and I am in the process of creating my own common core materials.
The ELA worksheets which I have designed in both this book and the one which follows it are easy for students to use. This is the first of 2 books which provide worksheets that are designed to help children learn 25 specific common core sight words by progressively presenting them in a format which will also provide repetitive review of previously introduced common core words.
These worksheets are designed to intensify the learning of the words by having the student(s):
1.) trace the sight word
2.) read the sight word in a sentence
3.) identify the sight word in a word search
4.) write the sight word in a sentence
A simple exercise for identifying word order and punctuation, as well as an activity which incorporates very basic comprehension of a single sentence is also included on each worksheet.
The pages are excellent for whole group instruction, RtI practice, or homework reinforcement.
