Product Description
Parent Support Guide and Homework Retelling Checklist

This product was developed to be the companion documents to the Retelling Bracelets in my "Blooming Beginnings" Store. These documents are specific to the bracelet beads used in the bracelet design; therefore, if you are looking for a generic retelling document, this is not a purchase you want to make (Just being honest!).

After modeling and practicing how to retell a story using Retelling Bracelets, you may wish to send the bracelets home to support further growth. The Parent Support Guide was designed to help parents have a clear understanding of the elements, so they can support their child's learning. The Parent Support Guide is a two-sided document formatted as a tri-fold brochure.

Also included, is a Homework Retelling Checklist. This checklist is designed for students to practice the strategy of retelling, while having parent guidance. Students check off whether they were able to retell each element independently or with support. This document has four checklists to one page. You just copy and cut. The checklist will fit into a baggie, along with the Parent Brochure (folded in half) and the Retelling Bracelet if the child chooses not to wear it. (I've never had a child not want to wear it!)

You may choose to keep the bracelets as tools in your room for future classes or you may choose to let students have one to own. My students are instructed that the bracelets are "tools." Tools that we use to help us grow stronger retelling a story. I let my students know they will have an opportunity to keep the bracelet when the year ends, once they become an expert at retelling!

Enjoy!
