Product Description
Sight word building videos can be used in so many ways; RTI or MTSS, as an intervention strategy, as a sight word differentiation tool, at literacy centers, for general word work, on a projector or smart board for the whole class to watch, and whatever other way you can come up with. This video builds the word "leave", which is a Fry word for 3rd grade from Fry’s Third Hundred Sight Words List.

? ? ? ? ? FAQ’s ? ? ? ? ?

1. Why do the letters change colors?
The letters change colors because some students may have difficulty with letter recognition. If there is a situation where a student has this difficulty, the letter colors give the teacher more flexibility to provide differing points of reference. Each letter has an assigned color and that letter has a matching arrow in the same color. The first letter always turns red and its arrow is red. The second is always blue and its arrow is blue. The same follows with the 3rd letter/arrow (Green), the 4th letter/arrow (Purple), and the 5th letter/arrow (Orange). The transitions are also purposefully built into the video, an example being the big wave that magically changes the colors of the letters. These provide points of reference when teaching and as your students progress with using the video, they will anticipate what will happen next based on the transitions.

2. Why is there no sound?
There is no sound, voice-over, or music in any of the videos so a teacher never has to fight over his/her instruction and a volume button. The videos are designed to be used in a manner that allows for a teacher to teach with the video – versus other videos that teach for the teacher. The videos are a pure teaching tool.

3. Why do you only go up to 5 letter words?
We only went up to 5 letters to maximize legibility on a large screen. Once more letters are introduced, the images become smaller and smaller to accommodate more activity on the screen. We wanted to ensure that the bulk of the words can be utilized (95 videos in Level 1, 82 in Level 2, and 79 in Level 3) and still remain large enough when projected so students can see the images clearly. Also, on smaller screens, since the videos can be played on a phone for example, the more letters the smaller the images. We found that 5 letters seemed to be the perfect fit.
