Lectio Divina is a practice of connecting with words in a deeper, more meaningful way. When reading a story/book/poem, students close their eyes and flip through to a random page. On that page, they close their eyes and place their finger randomly on a quote. Then, they use the handout to connect with those words in a deeper way. First, they look at what is literally happening in the story. Next, what do those words represent in the story. Then, reflect on those words and connect them to your life or something they remind you of. Last, think about how you can use those words to make a change in your life. This resource can be used with any text, but I used this with my students while reading Night by Elie Wiesel and it worked better than I could have expected!
