This activity was created to be an independent reading center but it can also be used whole group. As it a center it works best to divide it up into 2 days
(1 day to read/discuss, 1 day to complete the activity.) After reading the stroy, students identify the elements of story structure on the cards (characters, plot, problem, solution, introduction, and conclusion) and place them on the story structure map. They then record elements on the paper and paint the page according to the key to create their own sunset.
Laminate the directions page (pg. 2), story structure mat (pg. 3), and story cards (pg. 4). Cut apart the story cards.
This aligns with the Common Core & LAFS Craft and Structure standards.
