Being a school OT, I was shocked at how many students did not learn the concept about WHY writing has to be legible. So many students did not realize that writing is a form of communication. Use this mini lesson to teach and reinforce the WHY of legible handwriting. This helps students to understand the importance of legible handwriting, thus making it easier to understand why this must be stressed.
This is great for elementary students and special education students. This is easy to incorporate and could be used in small group discussions or full group class. This is also good for a handwriting group for RTI / MTSS.
I am a school occupational therapist who has a doctorate in occupational therapy. I work closely with special education and general education staff adapting material. This is where I get my inspiration for this material.
