One of my favorite first day of school team-building or icebreaker activities! Perfect for any class or subject but especially great for a STEM class.
In this activity students practice their communication skills through a hands-on activity using Legos (other building materials can be substituted).
It’s the year 2030 and the United States has successfully landed their first human mission on Mars. A group of ten astronauts will inhabit the planet for the next ten years. In order to successfully set up their colony, they must regularly communicate with scientists on Earth in Mission Control. A severe dust storm hit recently and the video portion of the communication system isn’t working and you need repair it.
Students will work with a partner to rebuild this communication system through verbal commands.
The kids love it!
