Lenape Activity

- PDF

Description
Enhance your students' study of the Lenape Native Americans with this printable, fun activity. Students will be engaged in higher order thinking while comparing and contrasting Lenape children with children of today. This resource is helpful in teaching the New Jersey curriculum.
For this Lenape resource, try using 2 Hula Hoops to form a Venn diagram for each group of students. Alternately, you can draw out circles outside on the blacktop or on large bulletin board paper. Distribute the sorting cards to each group. Students take turns reading their cards and deciding where to place them in the hoop Venn diagram. Discussion is encouraged. Once completed, students complete their own Venn diagram that can be used to write a compare and contrast essay. Printable lined paper is provided for the writing. A sample kid friendly compare and contrast essay is included. One copy is in black print, and the other is color coded. You can use these to differentiate your lesson or to model structure.
