Students absolutely love to celebrate their learning and accomplishments. "Leo the Late Bloomer" by Robert Kraus is about a young tiger who feels like he can't do anything, until one day he "bloomed". This book opens an important discussion about learning in different ways and times and celebrates how far students have come.
In this project, students create flowers showing they have "bloomed" just like Leo from "Leo the Late Bloomer" by Robert Kraus. This project makes a great bulletin board display, memory book page, or other special project for the primary grades.
Print on colored cardstock, cut, and glue to make the flowers. Students write and draw about everything they can do and draw a self-portrait in the middle of the flower.
