Everyone has heard of Leonardo da Vinci, he is probably the most famous artist from all history. Students have a natural curiosity to discovering all they can about this man, they want to be like him and secretly want to be remembered like he is too. With that in mind I created this in depth PowerPoint and project around Leonardo da Vinci.
I tested this PowerPoint and project out this past spring semester and my students were absorbing the information and blazing out some amazing Zentangles with the creativity learned with Leonardo.
This PowerPoint gives you complete overview, history and project designed around the famous artist Leonardo da Vinci. PowerPoint is 110 slides and could be easily set up for a month long project (this project and powerpoint took 28 days).
This PowerPoint Includes-
The full life and history of Leonardo da Vinci
Important works covered- Baptism of Christ, Last Supper, Leonardo's Notebooks, Vitruvian Man, Virgin of the Rocks, Cartography, Mona Lisa, St. John the Baptist, Bacchus, Giant Horse for Lodovico, Anatomy studies, Mechanical Lion, Salvator Mundi, The Battle of Anghiari, Portrait of a Musician, and Horse and Rider.
Videos on what Leonardo looked like and the movements of the mechanical lion
A Zentangle project (slides 13-22) based on Leonardo da Vinci's creativity which goes along with the PowerPoint presentation. The supplies needed are ridiculously simple- paper and sharpies and if you want to add extra flair some colored pencils of markers.
9 slides on how to draw in perspective with a short history which helps students see how perspective was rediscovered and used by Leonardo.
7 homework assignments- all aligned to engaging students to question, observe and explore without making BUSY WORK.
AND- a bonus 10 slides on how to create, critique, and use an artist statement (the artist statement handout is also a freebie on my store)
