If you're looking to do a leprechaun-themed writing assignment with your students, why not write leprechaun limericks? This is a 19 page teaching packet which includes everything you'll need to make this a fun and successful lesson. You'll begin the lesson by teaching the students about rhyme scheme. Students will read some fun St. Patty's Day-themed poetry and try their hand at identifying the rhyme scheme. From there, you'll be able to teach about limerick formats. Included are some printables for students to read limerick examples and try some of their own. Prior to having your students write their own limericks about leprechauns, you'll have them read an article teaching them all about the wee folk. Then you'll be ready for the writing activity! I've included grading rubrics, project pages, and various stationary for them to print their final copies on. This will make a cute bulletin board.
