Hunting For Gold
is a note for the leprechauns to leave for the kiddos in your class on St. Patrick's Day. It includes a description of how to make the first moments in the classroom on St. Patrick's Day morning loads of fun!
Leprechaun Trap Note
is a note to send to parents if you would like to have your students construct a leprechaun trap at home. It's a great family project!
Leprechaun Trap Writing
is writing paper for students to use when writing about how they made their leprechaun traps. There is a Word Bank and some structure to help students remember to include all of the steps they used while constructing the trap.
The I Am a Leprechaun
emergent reading book is a fun little book to make on St. Patrick's Day. Children use adjectives to describe what the leprechaun in the book is wearing.
The Shamrock Math Game
is an activity for practicing both addition and subtraction facts. Students choose leprechaun and shamrock cards to select the numbers they will use for recording facts on their recording sheets.
Lucky Charms Math
is also available on its own here
, but I have included it in this packet as well. Students use Lucky Charms to sort and graph the marshmallow shapes. Next, they use the data on the graph to add and compare the numbers.
Opinion Writing Response
to use after reading Jamie O'Rourke and the Big Potato
by Tomie DePaola. Students decide if they would choose a wish or a pot of gold if they caught a leprechaun! They must state their opinion and provide three reasons.
to use after reading St. Patrick's Day in the Morning
by Eve Bunting. Students write the sequence of the story using the structure of the organizer.
Pot of Gold Fact Families
is an activity for practicing fact families. Students use dice to determine the numbers in their fact families. They write the three numbers in the fact family on three gold coins and then record the facts on the pots of gold.
is a fun measuring activity using 1-inch tiles. There are seven leprechauns to measure in all. Students use the tiles to measure the leprechauns and record the measurements on the recording sheet.
Leprechaun Write the Room
includes a recording sheet and twelve cards depicting St. Patrick's Day pictures and words. The picture-word cards are hung around the room. Students put their recording sheet on a clipboard and find all the pictures so they can correctly write the words on their recording sheets.
