I wrote created this worksheet after reading Leprechaun on the Loose, written by Marcia Jones, to my students. The plot line is similar and the purpose serves to have the students figure out with /oi/ hunk correctly finishes the words. The story engages the students and they are able to work in pairs. When I had my students fill this worksheet out, I heard rich arguments about which vowel diphthong is the correct one. Teach this lesson around Saint Patrick's Day, or after reading Leprechaun on the Loose.
