Looking for something to ease your French students back into school mode after Winter Break? This reading comprehension and cultural activity has proven to do just that for my level 2 and level 3 students!
Students will start off by examining an infographic about French peoples' top 10 New Year's Resolutions and how good they are at keeping them. They will try to define terminology using context clues and pick out a few details from the text.
They will then move into sharing a favorite memory from the year before (passé composé/imparfait practice opportunity!) as well as making their own resolutions for the new year.
Finally, students will listen to a song by La Grande Sophie about New Year's Resolutions (you can check it out here: https://youtu.be/x0eqDt4l8Us) and will analyze the lyrics to find key details of her message while practicing locating support in a text. Finally, they will compare the singers' resolutions with the French Top 10 list to see what similarities and differences they can find.
It's a fun half-period activity to bridge the gap between break and back-to-the-grind! Bonne Année!
