This interactive powerpoint helps students learn these simple and more complex French sounds:
- short vowels (a, e, i, o, u)
- common sounds (an/en, ch, eu, in, oi, on, ou, qu)
- accents (é)
You must run the slideshow for everything to work properly. When first opening the powerpoint file it will look like gibberish, but once the slideshow starts everything is fine.
After starting the slide show the student pushes the right cursor button and one of three things will happen.
1. New letters will appear to form a new word. The student tries to read the word.
2. An image will appear on the screen. The student can use this image to help read the word.
3. The word is read. The student listens and sees if he has read the word correctly. If not, he reads it now.
In the final section of the slideshow steps 2 and 3 are reversed to encourage more reading and decoding.
French instructions are provided in the slideshow. Merci.
