Looking for an Easter activity for your Junior French Immersion students? In fact, this package can also be done with intermediate and up Core French.
In this package, there are 5 French texts outlining how various Francophone countries and communities celebrate Easter. I have included Easter in France, Easter in Acadia (Canada), Easter in Lebanon, Easter in Gabon, Senegal and the Ivory Coast, and Passover in Morocco.
What I normally do with these texts is that I divide my class in 5, give each group one text, and then get them to answer the reflection questions and create a poster + presentation for their Easter celebration. With each group presenting in front of the class, everybody has the chance to learn about all 5 Easter/Passover celebration in all 5 Francophone countries/regions.
I have also included a rubric and some final reflection questions that students are to do after the presentations in order to show me what they have learned.
This project is inclusive to all students, even to those who do not celebrate Easter or Passover. I have included questions which ask the student to compare how Easter is celebrate in the country on their sheet in comparison to how they celebrate their favorite celebration.
