This lesson should be used in Pre-K and Kindergarten to help students develop a relationship between numerals, numeral names, and ten frames for the numerals 0 through 4. The lesson includes an 18 slide PowerPoint with 7 activities, an activity worksheet to go along with the PowerPoint, a worksheet to practice and master the concepts discussed in the lesson, and a printable set of ten frames.
Why is the cost of the lesson only $1.00? It is my intention to spread a conceptual understanding of math and introduce non-traditional strategies that will intrigue teachers while encouraging them to be creative with their teaching of math and change the face of mathematics for future students. This lesson could be used as it stands, but feel free to modify the PowerPoint, activity worksheet, or practice worksheet as you see fit.
Getting students to be able to visualize numerals through ten frames will develop a strong number sense that the student will be able to use when they begin to count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers.
