This is Lesson 2 of 17 in the Monster Unit.
The first 4 Lessons in the Unit include pre-reading activities that helps students establish prior knowledge and relate/engage with the text.
This lesson is a good segway from Lesson 1 where students learned about relevant cases. However, it can be taught independent of Lesson 1. The agree/disagree statements are provocative enough that students will want to keep the conversation going and share what they already know. Great hook for closing the lesson with the evidence-based writing assignment.
