PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is the fourth lesson in the California Gold Rush unit, but can be done on its own as well if students already have background knowledge of the subject. It focuses on a concept previously introduced in Lesson 2: that most money during the gold rush was made by entrepreneurs selling goods and services, rather than by miners finding gold. Students will read about and then compare and contrast two famous entrepreneurs of the time: Domingo Ghiradelli and Levi Strauss.
