Elemental Gardeners Sustainability can be utilized alone or in conjunction with the other six Elemental Gardeners lessons for a complete unit of study on growing edible plants and living sustainability.
In this lesson plan students will learn what sustainability means and how sustainable growing methods and lifestyle choices benefit the heatlh of civilization, nature and our planet. The life cycle of trash and how we can reduce our waste is examined. Water and energy conservation is explored along with the benefits of sustainable gardening versus conventional. Finally, students will learn about the global food system and the benefits of eating locally and supporting local growers.
