This product is a 2-3 day plan focused on Hispanic love songs. There are 3 "can-do" statements covered in this plan:
I can recognize themes and main ideas of love songs.
I can listen to songs and give my opinion/write a review.
I can dedicate a song to someone.
Part 1: The lesson starts with a reading activity with the lyrics of 15 popular Hispanic love songs (which are formatted on 2 pages and ready to print) and there are several follow up activities to check for understanding.
Part 2: Next, students will look up and listen to a few of the love songs. (They will need access to phones or computers for this.) While listening, they will fill out a song review forms (template included ready to print).
Part 3: Finally, they will respond to a performance scenario (could be presentational speaking OR writing) to dedicate a song to someone they know.
This 2-3 day lesson would be a great addition to Valentine's Day lessons, a music unit, or could work well on its own. It could also be used as a sub plan by leaving "Teacher Notes" (provided) for the sub. This lesson is very low prep - only printing and copying needed beforehand. It can be very interactive (depending on which follow-up activities the teacher chooses) or students can work independently (with sub).
