This is a complete 60 min. lesson packet on NEW YEAR for ELL and special needs students in a Humanities class. This 50-page lesson focuses on Common Core Standard RI 6.2 I can summarize a text without giving my personal opinion. By the end of the lesson students will be able to summarize the text “New Year, New Country” with main idea and supporting details in at least 3 sentences. The standards are presented in a kid friendly language in this engaging lesson for our students with diverse learning needs! This lesson can also be used with slight modifications for ELL and ELA elementary grades.
