Lesson plan to help middle or high school students recognize and healthily manage their negative emotions, like anger, frustration, sadness, or fear.
This lesson plan can be used as a fun and interactive way to teach students something that could really shape the way they live the rest of their lives!
Introduces students to the acronym PEACE: Pause, Exhale, Accept, Choose, and Explore. Incorporates principles of mindfulness.
- to give secondary students a tool to deal with their negative emotions;
- to introduce basic concepts of mindfulness to young people;
- to improve behavior over time;
- to ease classroom management.
The lesson plan may take variable amounts of time and can be expanded into multiple lessons; at least 30 minutes is needed.
Discussion and teaching can take place in a circle, or in a regular lecture format.
