This is an eleven page file. The first two pages are a full lesson plan which focuses on social expectations and gender roles in William Golding's Lord of the Flies. The 9 pages that follow the lesson plan are a student friendly version of the lesson plan which includes graphic organizers for the students to chart their work. There is space for student responses as well, so if you want to collect the handouts at the end of the lesson to check their progress, then it will work wonders.
The lesson plan includes aim, do-now, instructional objective, reading log (if you want the students to do some reading on their own), learning activity, and even the summation which can be used an exit ticket.
During this lesson, the focus is analyzing the characters to understand how gender roles and social expectations play a role in influencing human behavior.
If you are looking to inspire the students and get some really interesting conversations going about the text, then this is the lesson for you.
I hope you enjoy! Thank you!
