States of Matter - Kinetic Theory of Gases, Kinetic Energy, Kelvin, Pressure, Particle Motion
This lesson plan includes two 50-minute lessons
on the kinetic molecular theory of gases. The first lesson includes a warm up activity that reviews basic properties of solids, liquids, and gases. The Power Point covers the important aspects of KMT and gas pressure. Demonstration videos are inserted into the Power Point presentation to help your student visualize aspects of KMT of gases. The second lesson reviews the information from lesson one in the warm up and the Power Point discusses the relationship between Kelvin and kinetic energy of the particles. Conversions with pressure units is also demonstrated. Finally, in this lesson your students will calculate the factor by which KE changes with temperature. These lesson plans are colorful, easy to follow, and are sure to keep your students’ attention!
